European Values in the Classroom

Living and Teaching Values in Everyday School Life

This interactive workshop supports teachers and educational professionals in making European values such as democracy, pluralism, freedom, equality, solidarity, and justice visible and meaningful in everyday school life. The focus is on how values can not only be taught theoretically, but also understood, reflected upon, and naturally lived through daily interaction.

Participants explore typical situations from school life and test creative and participatory methods for values-based education. Topics include democratic dialogue, respectful engagement with different opinions, collaborative learning, and encouraging participation and responsibility in the classroom.

Through perspective-taking, group activities, reflection, and practical exercises, participants develop new ideas for fostering open, respectful, and inclusive learning environments. The workshop combines exchange, self-reflection, and practical teaching approaches while showing how European values can be integrated across different subjects and learning settings.
