Building with lego bricks

Envisioning sustainable cities and communities (SDG11)

In this workshop children can create their vision for sustainable cities. This activity will foster:

  • critical thinking by encouraging participants to assess the current design of cities and incorporate sustainable principles into their designs
  • creativity by thinking outside the box and creating public spaces that secure wellbeing for all species
  • collaboration byworking together on creating a city where community can thrive
  • communication by expressing their vision and negotiating their ideas and demands with their peers

From 2h to full day

Young people from 6 to 16.

In a first step, we explore how the urban environment is today and how well it considers principles of sustainability and child-friendliness. In a second step, we develop ideas for a more sustainable urban environment. In a third step we will build our vision with lego bricks.

The workshop can be focused on different topics:

  • environmental city planning
  • trees in the city
  • urban mobility
  • water in the city
  • animal migration in the city
  • urban agriculture
