Our Story

“At the end of the 1990s, I was standing at Leipzig’s main station waiting for a group of young people from Lithuania, Moldova and Spain – I have no idea who was more nervous, the young people on the train or me, barely older than them and in my first EU project as an organiser.
We sat around the campfire, talked about God and the world, and in no time at all we were simply a group of Europeans who got along well.
This power of European exchange, to create togetherness across national borders in such a simple and uncomplicated way, still fascinates me today and is the main driving force behind our work as Wisamar Bildungsgesellschaft – at European level, but also locally and regionally.
Founded in 2005 as a non-profit organisation, we work with a great team in the areas of education and training, including language and integration courses, project management and EU mobility.”

Sabine Röhrig-Mahhou, Founder & Managing Director

With extensive experience and expertise in developing immersive VR learning scenarios we revolutionize the learning experience in vocational education. Through various digital education solutions from gastronomy to public transport, we foster interactive and engaging education.

We have created innovative strategies for green project management and to encourage people to “ThinkTwice,” which is the title of one of our awarded projects. We support VET schools with a whole institution approach towards green transition and work with youngsters on this important topic.

Civic education and the promotion of democratic values are core tasks outlined in our statutes and form the foundation of all our activities. We have designed projects and courses focused on countering populism by fostering active European citizenship and instilling democratic values in school education.

As a signatory to the German Diversity Charter, we are committed to diversity and equal opportunities. We not only implement this in our day-to-day work, but have also initiated projects on the subject, focusing on equal opportunities in the workplace and the support of LGBTQIA+ people.

With 20 years of experience in EU Mobility, holding two Erasmus+ accreditations in both vocational and adult education, and serving as accredited on-site mobility counseling provider for the German National Agency Wisamar is a leader in the field – always open for cooperation.

Wisamar is accredited by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees as an Integration Course Provider. In this role, we support language learning and integration for individuals with migrant backgrounds, while also contributing to their social and labor market integration.

Our mision

We promote lifelong learning and dialogue through European Mobility programmes, language and integration courses, inspiring further education offers as well as initiatives and projects fostering innovation and quality in education.

Our motivation

Wisamar has stood for reliable and innovative work in European education for many years. We have been recognised for this on several occasions and many of our projects are listed by the European Commission as examples of good practice. And an exciting project on storytelling as a method in basic and political education received the Innovation Award for Continuing Education from the state of Saxony. Such awards, as well as the direct feedback from the people we work with, are a great motivation for us to keep going and to continue our commitment to education, openness and tolerance in a common Europe.
